International Tax

Cross-border business has long been part of everyday life for many mid-sized companies – and it is demanding from a tax perspective. We advise German companies with activities abroad and international groups with companies in Germany, in English or German.

For German companies expanding abroad (outbound)

  • Setting up subsidiaries and permanent establishments abroad
  • Double tax treaties and avoiding double taxation
  • Controlled foreign company rules, exit taxation and transfers of functions
  • Secondment of employees and managing directors

For international groups in Germany (inbound)

  • Market entry: GmbH, branch or permanent establishment – which fits best?
  • Tax registration, ongoing compliance and accounting from one source
  • Withholding tax on dividends, interest and royalties, including exemption and refund procedures
  • Reporting to your parent company in English

Transfer pricing – with our partner network

Supplies, services and financing within the group must be priced at arm’s length and documented. For transfer pricing systems and the statutory documentation (master file and local file), we work with a specialised partner firm. We coordinate the project, provide the figures from accounting and financial statements and remain your central point of contact.

Our network

We know the relevant double tax treaties, the national and international anti-avoidance rules and the reliefs under EU directives. For questions of foreign law and tax, we work with the member firms of the GBL Alliance (Global Business Lawyers), an international network of independent law firms in more than 50 countries.
